In a recent study discussed in David Robson’s “The Expectation Effect,” group participants took part in a particular VO2 max test. They were told they had a particular gene that made them better at running. But get this! Even though some didn’t have the gene, they did better in the running tests when they were told they did have the particular gene than those who did have the particular gene and were told they didn’t!
